If you are using your computer at home or in your office, you will need to ensure that it is correctly set up to use the University's online learning environment. By working through it you can check the suitability of your computer equipment and get advice on making sure you have everything you need.
Protecting against viruses
We also recommend that you protect your computer by installing anti-virus software. The University is able to offer copies of Symantec's anti-virus software at a reduced price.
If you are studying on campus, you can get the software from the Students' Union. Regardless of whether or not you are studying on campus, you can also order it by telephone on +44(0)1443 483500, by e-mail to Reception UGU or by writing to:

At the time of writing the cost of the Symantec anti-virus software is currently £4.50 + postage.
We can take payment by credit or debit cards over the telephone on the number given above. Orders taken over the telephone before 2pm will be posted on the same day.
Cheques should be made payable to 'UGU' and should have guarantee information on the reverse. An order paid for by cheque will only be dispatched once the cheque has cleared.
